Top bread-stars with cheese-stars and make them shine. Make star sandwiches; build star towers; build a star town!
Let your child help you roll out a piece of bread with a rolling pin, then use a cookie cutter to cut out star shapes from the bread and from slices of cheese. Top the bread stars with the cheese stars to ‘make the stars shine.’
You could also spread jam, Nutella, soft cheese or any other topping to ‘make the stars shine.’ Use at least one food your child is comfortable touching. Go slowly, adding one food to the food tray at a time. Explore the new stars, talk about how they feel similar and different, how they look similar and different.
“Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” or make up your own words to any familiar tune.
Get silly and make the stars shine!
From my kitchen to yours, enjoy. Happy food-play!!
